YWAM Worship Album Update – Jan. 2011 

Hooray!  We are getting closer!

Just so everyone knows, we have come A LONG way on this project and I hope we can begin to build excitement together for what is about to be released.

The YWAM worship album idea started  a number of years ago, but this present attempt began last October, when several bases used Genesis and Skype to meet with some potential publishers and producers to talk about a collaborative effort.   There was a ton of excitement then, and its only growing now.

Consuming Worship (the publisher) sent producers to help us in the process and in the first week of November we finalized and tracked the music for 11 songs that represent the musicianship and worship writings of YWAMers from around the globe.  It was honestly very powerful at times, and I think we captured something special.   This first project is all in English, and while nearly 150 songs were submitted, the following songs were chosen by a panel of YWAMers in partnership with the producers and publishers:

4.       Lord of All Creation – Brad Owens (HI, US)

5.       Love in Perfection (Sweeter Than Wine) – Taylor Maxwell  (FL, US)

6.       Mercy Draws  – Jorge Jimenez (Costa Rica & US)              

7.       My Heart Cries Out – Rend the Heavens (OR, US)

8.       Relentless Love – Aaron Sternke (OR, US)

9.       Renew – John Connor  (CO, US)

10.   Send Your Presence – Brad Owens  (HI, US)

11.   Yielded – Jodi Stancil –Deetlefs (South Africa)

One of the most difficult things was coming to songs that we had hoped to use, but just couldn’t make happen.  I hope we can work on that in future projects, but having the publishers help us in this made it way more objective.  One thing we can work on as YWAMers is our song-writing!  Every song had tweeks to make sure we were saying something real, truthful, and meaningful.  The publishing company (Consuming Worship) has staff members who are the top judges for the Gospel Music Association Song Writing Seminars, and they have offered to help us a bit down the line. 

On this project, we still have vocals to track.  Dates for that have yet to be set because we have to finish the edits, and get all the song-writers to sign their contracts (Consuming Worship is taking the publisher’s share of the royalties.  This is the industry standard and actually in line with Copyright laws.) .  We don’t even have the vocalists finalized and we’re especially looking for a top notch female vocalist (if you know someone, send me a sample of their work!!)
