I thought the Mbox is 96!? well, I think this is a problem of digidesign that they doesn't like to put much effort in their lower line product, and only in their front line product. so basically you could only get the HD or LE... the professional quality or nonprofessional quality... so they could keep their so call "industrial standard" title.. :) but i like protools, even tho i doesn't use protools (by the way I use C5 :P ) i am really really highly suggesting you to use the M-Powered instead, cause LE is such a ripoff, still USB 1.0, only 48kHz, expensive... and m-audio is a totally choose, they put effort into every single product, even the smallest sound card they have, the M-Audio Transit, it's a palm size sound card with a 1/8" stereo in and one out jacks and plus a optical output! And it's 24bit/96kHz! and plus it's a m-powered protools family! telling u bro, m-audio is awesome :) and i m experiencing it myself with 2 of them already, my first one is the firewire 410 and now it's a fast track pro (suppose to be a profire 610 but..) and they are all ready for protools :) i like focusrite, but probably just there preamps :P personal opinion :) but really take a shot on M-Audio you will see what I am saying :)

francis,
this forum might help you out. it's a pretty reliable resource.
http://www.gearslutz.com/board/so-much-gear-so-little-time/458200-do-i-need-mixer-some-other-interface.html

i use a two channel preamp/soundcard made by focusrite. it's an Mbox.
the Sample Rate: is only 44.1, 48 kHz but i've been very satisfied with it.
it's definitely not a pro preamp or analog converter but it is quality.
i guess you really just need more channels?
this forum would point you in the right direction.
it's really only about what kind of budget you have to work with.
hope this helps bro.
